Sport England is the leading sport authorityin the UK. They are the governing body for
initiatives in football and cricket, fund grass
roots sports and are involved in community and sporting projects such as the new Wembley Stadium and the 2012 Olympics. They have an annual income of over £330 million made up of Government and National Lottery funding. Over the last few years Sport England has embarked upon a process of structural modernisation within the organisation which saw a drop in the number of employees from 570 to 250 based in nine regional offices. Following this downsizing, a steering group was established to look at a number of software solutions that could transform business processes and accommodate the reduced number of employees.
