The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II) forms the foundation of Europe’s response to the 2008 global financial crisis. Currently scheduled to come into force in January 2018, the directive will introduce a tighter market structure in which participants must trade on regulated platforms.
The increased supervisory powers afforded to regulators under MiFID II, as well as more in-depth trading and reporting requirements for firms, should lead to a re-examination of risk management strategies in this new regulatory era.
This white paper outlines several key articles from MiFID II, which financial institutions should examine in order to make sure they comply with the new risk requirements.
